Beast of the Snowfield (Japanese: 雪原の獣 Setsugen no Kemono) is the fourth Short Program chapter of the Medalist manga.

Story[]
This chapter takes place five years in the past. Jun Yodaka visits a family residing in a snowy land. The building is built in classic Japanese architecture while the staff are dressed in traditional kimonos.
After some discussion about adopting Hikaru, Jun decides that he no longer wants to, because the girl lacks "luck," which he considers an essential talent. When he asks to see the girl himself, he is told that she is right behind him. Turning around, Jun sees Hikaru peeking down from the roof above before jumping onto the snowy ground, wearing a large, frilly dress, yet her feet bare. An eerie, unwavering shine in her large eyes reminds Jun of a beast.
At this this moment, Jun senses that no matter what he did, the world would find this girl somehow and drag her into the sunlight, and then she'd walk down the same path as him. Thus, he decides to continue the conversation, eventually taking Hikaru with him.
