Grown-ups make all these assumptions about how kids feel. They think you'll be happy if you get a little better, but they won't understand unless you spell it out for them.

Hikaru to Inori

Hikaru Kamisaki (Japanese: 狼嵜 光 Kamisaki Hikaru) is a figure skating prodigy, widely regarded as the best skater of her generation. She is also the rival of Inori who promised to compete against her in the All-Japans.

She was taken in by olympic gold medalist Jun Yodaka as an orphan and lived with the family of Shinichiro Sonidori. As a member of Mekoh Wind FSC, Sonidori served as her coach on paper, while Yodaka is the one giving actual instructions.

Appearance[]

Hikaru has long, wavy black hair that is somewhat unkempt, with a single strand falling over her face. When skating, she ties her hair into a ponytail. She is almost always seen wearing black and white clothing. When off the ice, she has a preference for frilly clothes.

Personality[]

Hikaru has a bold and free personality and a strong will. She follows her ambitions without hesitation and is fearless in her actions. While she tends to analyze and respect hierarchies around her, she does so mainly for the sake of convenience, as she is not the type to blindly follow authority.

When dealing with children, she is honest and kind. Through her relationship with Rioh, she's come to understand that normal kids aren't as strong as she is, so she thinks of them as beings she needs to protect.[2]

    Trivia[]

    • In order to make more time for skating practice, Hikaru only only attends school for half the day, or sometimes even skips entirely.
    • Hikaru's love for frilly clothes comes from books she read during childhood. However, she has been trying to tone it down to avoid attracting too much attention.[2]
    • Hikaru has to trim her eyelashes regularly so they don't get in the way of her vision. Her eyelashes can hold three cotton swabs each on them.[3]
    • At the Sonidori household, Hikaru has a large tent over her bed, decorated with glow-in-the-dark stars. This was given by the Sonidori family as a birthday gift, and Rioh was responsible for the star decorations.[4]

    Etymology[]

    • The surname "Kamisaki" consists of the kanji ("wolf," an animal reference) and ("peninsula"/"promontory").
    • The given name "Hikaru" () means "light."
