Story[]

Pairing with Tsukasa
Hitomi started skating under the influence of his father, Olympic ice dancer Shou Takamine. She reached the skill level of a Level 6 singles skater, but was captivated by ice dance and pursued it instead. However, despite Hitomi's high abilities, there were no male skaters of her generation who matched her level, and she repeatedly formed and dissolved pairs. At one point, Shou Takamine took over Lux Higashiyama FSC from a friend and met Tsukasa Akeuraji, a beginner in ice dance whom he started coaching. At first, Hitomi was wary of him, but gradually, touched by his personality and dedication, they became a good pair. Tsukasa and Hitomi eventually compete in the All-Japans, finishing in fourth.[2][3]
Shou Takamine eventually stops coaching, leaving Lux Higashiyama in Hitomi's hands. Thanks to fans from Hitomi's competitive skating days bringing their children, Lux Higashiyama now has many students. Hitomi herself is kind and a skilled instructor, so the children grow up freely and comfortably. While there are no students with standout achievements yet, the warm, homey atmosphere has earned the club a very good reputation among both students and their parents.[2][3]

Hitomi offers Tsukasa a coaching position
Learning that Tsukasa has struggled to find work after his retirement from competitive skating, Hitomi calls him over to Nagoya and offers him a position as assistant coach at Lux Higashiyama. Though initially reluctant, Tsukasa accepts the position after a girl named Inori Yuitsuka and her mother join them for a meeting: despite already being 11 years old, Inori badly wants to skate, but her mother is against this and only wanted coaches to turn her down. However, after witnessing Inori's immense skill on the ice for a beginner, Tsukasa sees a reflection of his young self, and takes it upon himself to coach Inori.[4]
After this point in the story, Hitomi takes on a background role. While she still keeps an eye on Inori and attends important competitions with her, she has her hands full with the rest of the students at Lux, and Inori spends most of her time training with Tsukasa.
In Inori's Junior year, Hitomi and Tsukasa both accompany her to a training camp in Osaka held by the Japan Skating Federation. At night, Inori, sleeping alone, finds herself wanting to talk to her mother, but at the same time fears being too dependent. She visits Hitomi's room, where they share some tea. When Inori confides these insecurities in her, Hitomi reassures her, saying that children need plenty of memories of being cared for in order to grow up. She welcomes Inori to come to her for private talks if she doesn't want Tsukasa to see her as a child, promising to keep it a secret between them.[5]
Trivia[]
- Shou was always afraid of Hitomi marrying, so he'd try to keep any boy who got close to her in check, including a young Kohei Kamogawa. However, once in middle school, Hitomi told him to knock it off, threatening to cut ties otherwise.[6]
