Tsukasa to Inori
Tsukasa Akeuraji (Japanese: 明浦路 司 Akeuraji Tsukasa) is the deuteragonist of Medalist. He is a former ice dancer and the current coach of Inori Yuitsuka.
Appearance[]
Tsukasa is a tall man often recognized for his muscular build. He has short, spiky orange-blond hair and thick, well-defined eyebrows.
Personality[]
Tsukasa has a positive and genuine personality, always letting his emotions show without much consideration. He reacts to good news with exaggerated enthusiasm and is completely unreserved when it comes to complimenting his students, sometimes repeating the same praises for days or weeks.
When it comes to figure skating, Tsukasa is extremely observant, able to memorize any skating routine after only watching it once. As a coach, he is able to analyze his students' skating down to the smallest details, partly thanks to his experience in ice dance. Despite his talents, he remains incredibly humble and frequently seeks advice from fellow coaches, though they often struggle to offer him guidance due to how thorough he is in the first place.
In stark contrast to his student Inori, Tsukasa has an irrational fear of worms.

Trivia[]
- When Tsukasa first started ice dancing, he didn't have much muscle. However, one time during a lift, Tsukasa dropped Hitomi and caused her minor injury. This incident made Tsukasa realize the necessity of strength, after which he began building muscle through bodyweight training.[1]
- Tsukasa is close with his older brother, Hajime, but not as much with his younger brothers.[1]
- As of late, he has taken a liking to bonsai.
- He uses ice dance-specific Riedell skate shoes, although he switched to MK ice dance blades after he started coaching Inori.
Etymology[]
- The given name "Tsukasa" (司) was chosen with the meaning of "guiding people."[1]
- The surname "Akeuraji" (明浦路) is derived from an alternate reading of the kanji, Aporo, inspired by Apollo. The choice was influenced by Greek mythology due to the goal of reaching the Olympics.[1]
- Unlike most athlete characters in Medalist, Tsukasa's name lacks an animal reference. According to the author, this is because he was cast away from the fate of skating.[1]
Notes[]
- ↑ There is a discrepancy regarding the given name of Tsukasa's youngest brother (健). According to Volume 7's extra mini-chapter "A Delicate Question," the name is read as ken. However, according to the Medalist Official Fanbook, the name is read as takeru.
